In western Normandy, only 7 km from Maison des Chérottes, stands the Domaine du Bois-Giroult, where the famous 3 Michelin star chef Alain Passard has his vegetable garden. Robert Hersant’s famous golf course is on the banks of the Eure, close to Paris, Rouen, Chartres and Évreux. This sumptuous 18-hole course is spread over 100 hectares, surrounded by majestic waterways and beautiful rolling hills. In the autumn its rare trees bedazzle with their scarlet leaves.

Verneuil-sur-Avre is a town 10 minutes from Moulin des Chérottes. It hosts a Saturday market at Place de Madeleine that gathers butchers, greengrocers, florists, fishmongers, roasters, caterers and organic growers. There’s also a section dedicated to fashion and arts.

Take a twenty-minute drive through rapeseed fields and find yourself in the village of Conche-en-Ouche, where flowers bedeck the sidewalks and half-timbered houses echo an earlier age. The Chateau de Conches-en-Ouche is an 11th century castle rich in history; it was designated a monument historique back in 1886.
